I’m pleased to be joining the MFRW 52 Week Blog Challenge this year. Our first topic is my favorite thing I’ve written. Since I’ve written more than 50 books, and have a good amount of them still in dire need of re-release, this possibly could have been a difficult decision for me. It wasn’t.
The favorite book I’ve ever written is Bjorn’s Mate, the start of my Nanook Warriors series.
Bjorn was written during NaNoWriMo probably more than 10 years ago. I’d have to go back and double check. I finished it in record time. In fact, I think that was the year I won the award for quickest exit. I literally finished my book at a write-in at Panera, waited for the break, then packed up, wished everyone well, and left. I’d hit my 50,000 words. Boom and done!
Bjorn also prompted quite a bit of research into polar bears, how global warming is affecting the Arctic, how what we’re doing is affecting native peoples in that region (they have a much higher dioxin level in their blood than we do in the US, for example), and deepened my commitment to doing what I could to change my carbon footprint.
Bjorn also started a series. The next books deal with the members of Bjorn’s EU Special Ops team and always make me smile when I see them on my bookshelf or come up as a sale in my Book Report.
I have written a lot of books since then, but Bjorn is still my favorite.
What comes to be a favorite is sometimes inexplicable. We don’t get to pick it. Our heart does. What a fascinating topic, too.
As you probably remember, your book Water Lust has the honor of being the first EC/e-book title I ever read:) I’ll have to put Bjorn’s Mate on my TBB list.
So happy you’ve joined the blog challenge!!!
Starting a season is a good reason for a book to be a favorite. thanks for sharing.
wow.. that’s some fast writing! Don’t you love it when the words just flow? Happy Friday!
It’s cool that this book not only raised the awareness of your readers, but also of the author.
Thanks for sharing, Mary! You’ve written a lot, so congrats!
